Why multifamily and why apartments?
People are always going to need a place to live regardless of the state of the economy. Owning can be cost-prohibitive for many and there has been a larger shift to renting in recent years with a significant part of population. Multifamily provides economies of scale and mitigates downside risk of lost income due to unoccupied units.
Why Colorado and the Front Range?
I live in Colorado, but that’s really just the start of it. There’s inherently a competitive advantage to investing in your backyard. You can gain an understanding of market dynamics better and develop/nurture the relationships needed to grow & scale a real estate business to generate the most value for investors.
Do you only work with accredited investors?
Primarily yes. Investing in any asset class (stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate) comes with risk and accredited investors are better equipped to handle the complexities that come with investing large amounts of capital across these asset classes. If we have a longstanding prior relationship and you have the knowledge, skills, and ability (or are willing to get it) to become a sophisticated, non-accredited investor, some opportunities may be available on a limited basis.
What kind of experience and track record do you have? Why should I trust you with my money?
I have a pretty good history of success thus far in my personal life and career. I went to West Point, was promoted ahead of peers in the military, and have done well in business, to include helping a company go from early stage to being publicly traded. Within real estate, I surround myself with proven operators and partner with professionals who have a demonstrated track record of success for their investors. I’m also a limited partner (LP) in over 1500 units as a passive investor. While trust is earned over time, nothing is more important to me than taking care of investors – providing education, obtaining superior returns, preserving capital, and servicing you throughout the entire investment process is at the forefront of everything that I do.
Will you eventually expand to other recession-resilient niches like self-storage or mobile home parks?
Later on in my investing journey, I 100% plan to venture to asset classes outside of multifamily. In fact, I already participate in making investments in self-storage as an LP. For now, I want to be laser focused on the multifamily niche in my selected markets so I can maximize value creation by uncovering the best opportunities and building on an already successful track record.
How can I better educate myself on real estate investing?
Everyone has varying levels of knowledge on investing in general. I have an MBA, thoroughly enjoy studying the economy, and am passionate about building wealth for others (and my family, of course). I try to gain new knowledge EVERY SINGLE DAY. The most important part about your education journey is committing to getting better (or just starting) and taking action. I will provide book recommendations, my blog, and other online resources to help.
